Oscar officials head to Tehran for cinematic seminars


TEHRAN, Feb. 27 (Mehr News Agency) -- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Sid Ganis accompanied by a team of cinematic figures will be holding seminars at Tehran's House of Cinema on Sunday and Tuesday.

The seminars are organized to provide educational programs for members of the House of Cinema in the various fields of directing, screenwriting, acting, producing, marketing and film distributing, reported the House of Cinema's Public Relations Office on Friday.

Members of the Board of Governors of the Academy actress Annette Bening and William Horberg, the producer of "Cold Mountain" are also among the invited guests.

Actress Alfre Woodard "Follow Me Home" (1996), Special Events Programmer and Exhibitions Curator Ellen Harrington, as well as Tom Pollock, the former Universal Pictures chairman, will also be attending the seminars.

The report also quoted Managing Director of the House of Cinema Mohammad-Mehdi Asgarpur as saying that the guests will also be attending joint sessions of the House of Cinema with organizers of the annual Iran Cinema Celebration.

They will also be visiting the Film Museum of Iran, a college of cinema, and several cinematic locations, the report concluded.
