Nahid received her PhD in History and Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University. She has taught courses on the history, culture, politics and literature of the Middle East and North Africa at various universities in the United States and Europe. Her publications include Strange Times, My Dear: The PEN Anthology of Contemporary Iranian Literature (Arcade Publishing, 2005), "Culture and Resistance: Writing Back to Power" in Targeting Iran, David Barsamiam, ed. (City Lights, 2007), "Crafting Constitutionalism: An Iranian Secular Modernist Project" in The Iranian Constitutional Revolution: Proceedings of the Centenary Conference at the University of Oxford (Vanessa Martin and Houchang Chehabi, eds.) 2008.
Nahid is currently teaching graduate courses on modern Iranian and Middle Eastern history at New York University, and working on two books: an intellectual biography of Dhkhoda, and a history of slavery in Iran.
