Last week, because of the religious holiday, we had a 4 day weekend and decided to go to Kish Island, 1,000km south east of Tehran in the Persian Gulf. We decided to be utterly selfish and take a trip just by ourselves and do totally as we pleased. We had not been there for three years and it was a great opportunity to take a break, relax and catch up with the changes in that island which has so much potential.
We were lucky as the company I work for had had a very big operation there at one time, and although it is much smaller these days, they still keep a small apartment for the executives who travel there. After a 90 minute flight from Mehrabad Airport in a rather elderly Taban Air Tupolev 154, we were met on arrival at Kish airport and taken to the apartment. All that was needed was prepared, bowls of fruits, cases of water, clean sheets etc. We were met by Shadi as the manager Mrs. Navaie was away with her husband who needed medical attention, but we could sense her supervision in all corners.
The weather was exquisite and the air was wonderful. We just took our time and walked a lot by the shore and enjoyed others enjoying themselves.
We simply loved the children enjoying being themselves whether playing in the sand, braving the waters, riding a bike or just relaxing! Families were having a good time, many were delighted to watch their children having fun and some dared to become children again and remember all that fun once more.
