Abadan, Khuzestan prov, Jan 19, IRNA -- The Shalamcheh border point with Iraq in this southern province was reopened on Sunday after a lapse of 10 months, a local official said on Monday.
An official at the governor office in Shalamcheh border point, Mohammad Mojaveri, told IRNA that the crossing has been unilaterally closed by Iraqi officials since March 25, 2008.
While the border point, which neighbors Iraqi southern province of Basra, was closed, the Iranian and Iraqi pilgrims crossed the border in form of pilgrims convoys, Mojaveri said.
He added that 10 Iraqi trucks loaded with various kinds of goods which were brought to the region by Iranian drivers, crossed Shalamcheh border point into Iraq on Monday.
