Washington, D.C. - On January 22, 2009, California Governor Arnold
Schwarzenegger appointed
Tamila Ebrahimi Ipema to the San
Diego Superior Court bench. Judge Ipema was appointed to a seat vacated by
Judge Jan Goldsmith, who won election in November as San Diego city attorney.
Judge Ipema has been a court commissioner in San Diego Superior Court since
April 2008. Prior to that, Judge Ipema was a commissioner for the Los Angeles
County Superior Court and an assistant district counsel for the US Department of
Justice.
Judge
Ipema earned a Master of Laws degree from Georgetown University, a Juris
Doctorate degree from the University of Louisville, a Master of Arts degree from
the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Damavand
College.
IABA
welcomes Judge Ipema's appointment to the bench by Governor Schwarzenegger and
encourages more Iranian-Americans to pursue public office and leadership
positions in the judiciary.
On
