BANGKOK, Thailand, Jan. 28 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's football team which had made a pulsating start in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers with a 6-0 rout of Singapore, was held to a goalless draw by Thailand at the Rajamangala National Stadium on Wednesday.
Ali Daei's side had defeated Singapore 6-0 in its opener in Tehran while Thailand battled to a 0-0 draw against Jordan in Amman in Group E.
In another match, Singapore beat its guest Jordan 2-1 at the National Stadium.
Iran is scheduled to play Jordan on November 14th in Tehran while Singapore will host Thailand in the same day.
Iran keeps atop Group E with four points, followed by Singapore with three points, Thailand who bagged two points and Jordan with only one point.
The top two teams from each of the five groups will qualify for the finals. The 10 teams are to join the AFC Asian Cup 2007 winners Iraq, runners-up Saudi Arabia and third-place team South Korea, in addition to hosts Qatar . They will also be joined by the winners of the AFC Challenge Cups 2008 and 2010 in the continent's final 16.
