SINGAPORE, July 6 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran beat China on Monday and won the bronze medal of 1st Asian Youth Games. In the match held at the Jalan Besar Stadium, Iran defeated China 2-0 and finished third in the event.
Armin Sohrabian gave the Iranians a lead in the 18th minute. Siavash Haghnazari doubled the score in the 35th minute.
"I am proud of my players. After being beaten by North Korea in the semifinal stage, I strengthened my players mentally. I am so glad to win the bronze. We are getting prepared for next year's 1st Youth Olympic Games," Iran's Coach Mohammad Yavari said.
Iranian athletes earned 1 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals in the Asian Youth Games. Iran stood in the 11th place among the participating countries.
