TEHRAN, July 7 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's 2nd Little Hands of Prayer International Festival announced its winners during a ceremony held on Monday in Tabriz.
A collection of the 50 best works were selected and honored at the program in which head of Iran's Art Bureau Hassan Bonyanian, and head of Mehr News Agency Parviz Esmaeili took part.
In his opening speech, secretary of the event Hassan Najafi said, "The fourth national and the second international festival has been warmly received, with almost 30,000 works entered from different participating countries, including the United States, Belgium, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Canada.
"Out of the submitted works, six were honored at the national and six at the international sections. 20 more works were also selected at the side section of the festival," he noted.
He further added that all the expenses of the festival with the average sum of 150 million rials (US$15,000) were provided for by donations from benevolent persons.
At the national section, Saba Rofarshibaf (Mashhad) and Samin Vaezi (Tabriz) shared the first prize. Hadis Dehqan (Tabriz) and Negin Ebrahimi (Arak) shared the second prize. Homa Yekravi (Tabriz) and Hossein Hosseinpur (Meshkinshahr) shared the third prize.
At the international section, Samin Vaezi (Iran) and Ribaz Jito (Iraq) shared the first prize. Leila Kermani (Iran) and Monireh Ali-Sheikh (Iraq) shared the second prize. Faezeh Akbarzadeh (Iran) won the third prize.
Gifts such as dolls, bracelets, ear rings, and bicycles were also handed out to children on the side section of the festival.
