Statement by The Iranian
Scientists in West Japan

We, the professors, scientist
communities, and researchers in Japan are writing to the people of Japan and the
world, to express our deepest concern on the violence and illegal acts by the
government of Islamic Republic of Iran against the universities and scientific
communities in Iran.
Using the armed militia in the
streets of the major cities of Iran, arrest and detention of human rights
defenders and the threat on the safety of the world know Iranian scientists,
including the Noble laureate are of deep concern to the Iranian scientists in
Japan and the world.
We are bringing this situation in
front of the eyes of the Japanese people, to enhance the solidarity between the
people of the two nations. Using the armed militias in the streets, killings,
attack on, and destruction of the university dormitories, arrest of hundreds of
the students are serious crimes and violation against the constitution of the
Islamic Republic of Iran and the World Basic Human Rights Declarations, which
Iran is a signatory of, and obligated to obey.
These violent acts by the
Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and its leaders, make them
responsible for and subject to future pursuit both in the domestic and
international courts of justice.
We strongly condemn these acts of
violence. We demand the release of the arrested and imprisoned people,
compensation of the damage to the people, the victims and families of the people
who lost their lives. The government of the Islamic Republic and their leaders
are responsible for spreading the divide between the people. If the government
who is responsible for protection of the people, cannot protect them, does
deprive them of their basic rights even mourning for the victims, and spreads
terror and violence in the society, the government is illegal and subject to
civil-disobedience.
The world is watching closely and
is worried about the safety of the people, men and women, people of different
strata, different religions, different social backgrounds, who are bravely
marching for freedom of speech, and basic human rights.
In accordance with the letters by
world scientists including the noble laureates to the Secretary General of UN on
July 6th, we express our grave concern and ask all the scientific communities in
Japan and around the globe, to condemn any act of threats against the lawyers
and human rights defenders, and Iranian Nobel Peace Laureate, Dr Shirin Ebadi.
We the Iranian Scientists in
Japan strongly support the Iranian peoples right for peaceful and non-violence
gathering, demonstrations and free expression of the ideas. We strongly condemn
using of any force and illegal pressure on the women associations, labor unions,
university professors, student unions, journalists, lawyers and human right
defenders, and other Islamic religious leaders, other religious minorities who
expressed their objections against the government.
We the Iranian Scientists in
Japan strongly condemn using the military forces and militias by the Islamic
Republic of Iran against Iranian people. We extend our sincere appreciation to
all scientists, artists, writers, singers, journalists, worker unions, social
parties, organizations around the globe, in Unites States, European Union, Latin
America, Asia, Oceania, Middle East, in their historical solidarity and support
for the people of Iran. It is extremely important that the foreign governments
consider the civil right movement of the Iranian nations as an internal matter
and be constrained from exploiting the situation as a short-term political
opportunity for political exploitation of the region.
We believe that this non-violence
movement will bring a new era in the region, will be a significant contribution
of the Iranian nations to the peace and stability in the region and discolor the
image of the country as a politico-adventurist, mono-colored political system.
The non-violence democratic movement of the Iranians is and will be for the
stability and peace in the region and the world, which is an important reason
for all the individual citizens of the world to join and support the movement at
the international level.
