TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran came 11th among 145 countries competing in Serbia's 25th Summer Universiade claiming five gold, two silver and one bronze medals. Iran took part in taekwondo, archery, judo, table tennis, basketball and athletics.
Ali Reza Nasr Azadani, Rohollah Talebi and Mehran Asgari competing respectively in (-72kg), (-78kg) and (-84kg) categories won gold medals. Hossein Tajik in (+84kg) class secured a silver medal.
Also Iranian team competing in men poomse got a bronze medal.
In track and field, Sajjad Moradi finished 800-meter dash in one minute and 48 seconds wining a gold medal.
In disc-throw, Mohammad Samimi grabbed a gold medal and held the record of 65 meter and 33 centimeters. Mahmoud Samimi held the record of 64 meter and 67 centimeters and received a silver medal.
Iran's basketball team stood 21st as it beat China and South Korea, but failed to crash Turkey, Portugal, Australia and Mexico.
In individual and double table tennis, Afshin Norouzi and Vahed Malmiri only managed to become among top 16 top players and did not secure any medal.
In archery, Iran's representative could only join the 8 best players, but cold not go to semi-finals.
Iran also failed to win a medal in individual and team judo.
