TEHRAN (ISNA)-The Head of Iran's
Sistan-Baluchestan province Judiciary Ebrahim Hamidi said that 13 members of
Jundallah (Soldiers of God) terrorist group have been hanged in a prison in
Zahedan city Tuesday morning.
The execution of another convict of the group, Abdolhamid Rigi, a brother of Jundallah leader Abdolmalik Rigi, has been postponed on the request of an intelligence official for further investigation about the group, he told ISNA.
Abdolhamid Rigi will be hanged in 2 or 3 days, he said.
Zahedan is a city in southeastern Iran and the capital of the province of Sistan o Baluchestan. The city had an estimated population of 580,071 in 2005. Zahedan is located near the borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan, at an altitude of 1,352 meters above sea level and at a distance of 1,605 kms from the Iranian capital of Tehran.
Armed robbery, kidnapping foreign nationals as well as killing passengers in Bam southeastern city were among charges of the extremist group. It has also claimed responsibility for bombing a Shiite mosque in Zahedan May 28 which killed 25 people.
