TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran's Isfahan University of Technology team came first at 2009 Formula Student competition in Silverstone Circuit, Britain.
Led by Mohsen Esfahanian and Mehdi Fadaei, both are faculty members of Isfahan University of Technology, the seven-man team took part at Silverstone Circuit's Class 3 as the only Asian representative.
Hungary and Britain respectively came second and third.
The competition regarded as one of the world's biggest ones for mechanical engineering students is held annually by Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
The competition is also supported well-known companies of Toyota, Honda, Airbus and Shell.
The contest aims at boosting students' technical knowledge and connecting them to the industrial world.
Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Poland and Scotland also participated in Silverstone Formula Student.
