TEHRNA, July 24 (Mehr News Agency) – Health officials have
confirmed that two people in South Khorasan and Kerman provinces who had
returned from pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia were found infected with swine flu
virus.
The first case of swine flu virus was confirmed in Birjand in South Khorasan
Province, a local health official, Valiolah Zeraatkar, told the Mehr News Agency
on Thursday.
Zeraatkar added that another person is suspected of having the virus too.
Describing debility, fatigue, sore muscles and fever as common symptoms of the
illness, he said that the virus can spread through contacts between people.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Jamalizadeh, the deputy director of the Medical Science
University of Rafsanjan, said a person is found infected with the virus in the
city of Rafsanjan in Kerman Province.
The infected person is a 48-year old woman who is well on road to recovery, he
told the MNA.
He added people above the age of 64, children under the age of 5, pregnant women
as well as people with chronic diseases are more receptive to the virus.
