RACICE, Czech Republic, July 26 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's Mohsen Shadi Naghadeh claimed the gold medal of the World Rowing Under 23 Championship in Racice, Czech Republic, on Sunday.
Shadi, who represented Iran in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, came first in the Final B of Lightweight Men's Single Sculls with a time of 6:57.38 minutes. Brazilian Alison Silva won the silver, clocking 6:59.17 minutes, followed by Linus Lichtschlag from Germany with 7:01.40 minutes.
Mina Amini, Behnaz Moradkhani, Fatemeh Khalaj and Nasim Benyaghoub from Iran finished fifth in the Lightweight Women's Quadruple Sculls, clocking 7:04.09 minutes behind Belarus with a time of 6:38.97, the Netherlands with 6:40.84, France with 6:44.88 and Italy with 6:48.30 minutes.
Under 23 world champions featured 21 events and began on Thursday and finished on Sunday.
In total, 834 rowers in 307 boats from 56 nations took part in Racice in all 21 events.
