Photos: Huge rally held in Mashhad in support of Mir Hossein Mousavi

A large crowd of people gathered in the provincial town of Mashhad in
Northeastern Iran to declare their support for Mir Hossein Mousavi who is
running for president in the elections to be held on June 12. Former president
Khatami was there to campaign for Mousavi.

Mashhad is the second
largest city in Iran and one of the holiest cities in the Shia world. It
is located 500 miles east of Tehran, at the center of the
Razavi Khorasan
Province close to the borders of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. Its
population was 2,427,316 at the 2006 population census. |
