We Voted!

By Syma Sayyah, Tehran

Today we went to vote and it took us over two and half hours. Some of our friends had to wait even longer. In many polling stations they had not put enough staff for efficient and speedy process, yet they had put a polling station up in Velenjak (where people go hiking); first station! My friend who voted there said it took him and his family about 3 minutes!!

I went to vote after 30 years for the first time, like many other Iranians across the world because of solidarity that we all felt together for the common goal and hope that was at large, despite the shortcomings.

People in past two weeks came out and expressed their hope and frustration. They came out to show solidarity with a common hope and idea. May this hope become a blooming flower.

At our polling station, and most others that friends witnessed, all the four candidates' representatives were not present, but the president's always was. they have made things go slow and yet unlike past occasions they have not extended the time as they have done in the past. So manymay not be able to vote.

As I am writing these we just heard that by this afternoon more than 20,000,000 Iranians have voted but sadly one of Mr Mousavi'e election stations in Ghaytarieh, Tehran was attacked!

We are holding our breath and I have been praying like never before. I just hope and pray for change, for a better Iran for all Iranians. May the good forces be with us. Keep your fingers crossed for us.
