Letter From Tehran: The Black Day In June

By Syma Sayyah, Tehran

Payvand.com - Tehran weather is very stormy.  Last night, at about 9:30 PM, the wind dropped a large tree on electricity wires and we lost power for a long time.  It was restored after a lot of hard work by utility officials around 4 AM.

Tehran's other side has been stormy as well. Since last night I, like most Iranians, am flabbergasted looking at the the election's outcome.  Maybe the spin doctors took too much medicine to get their favorable results. Maybe they were too impatient and thus decided to do a repugnant act.

All day long I hear, see and feel pain, sorrow and loathsomeness; but the sense of being betrayed that is felt is the worst.

This evening when I saw the clips of a son of this country being beaten so savagely by 3-4 people in plainclothes and uniform made me shiver, and I could not stop crying and kept asking don't they have sons or brothers? Then why, why, why!!!
