TEHRAN, June 29 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran's Football Federation (IFF) has given coach Afshin Ghotbi a grace period of four days starting Monday to announce his plans to the federation for extending his contract. IFF and Ghotbi have not yet reached an agreement on terms of the contract.
"Ghotbi has not responded to our request to announce his plans. It is said his agent has criticized the fee. I will talk to him seriously in the next few days," Iran's Football Federation president said.
Ghotbi has to respond to IFF by the end of the week otherwise the federation will sign a contract with another Iranian coach, Ali Kafashian added.
The 45 old-year coach, who inspired
Persepolis football club to win Iran's Professional league title after six
years, took charge of the country's national team from Mohammad Mayeli-Kohan in
April, but failed to steer the team to the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Iran finished fourth in Group B of the World Cup qualifiers after South and North Koreas and Saudi Arabia.
