Gachsaran is a city in the Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province in southwestern Iran. The population of this city, encompassing the suburbs, is about 150,000. Gachsarani people speak in the Southern Lurish and Qashqai Turkic.
 
Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad Province is one of the 30 provinces of Iran. It is in the south-west of the country, and its capital is Yasuj. The province covers an area of 15,563 square kilometers, and in 1996 had a population of 544,000.The people mainly speak in Lurish language.
