Tehran, March 11, IRNA -- Congress of Iranian expatriates will be held in Tehran in April with the participation of dozens of Iranian elites living abroad.
Announcing this, president's representative in the High Council of Iranian Expatriates, Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei said that the event will sum up all the meetings held in other countries, involving Iranian expatriates.
In a telephone conversation with IRNA, Rahimi-Mashaei, who is also a vice president and the head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization, added that the congress seeks to institutionalize expatriates' contacts with Iran, its capabilities and capacities.
The event will be organized by the secretariat of the council whose members are seven ministers and four vice presidents.
The secretariat is responsible for the affairs of Iranians living abroad and deals with economic, commercial, cultural, media, scientific, educational and consulate fields.
It earlier held seminars in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Istanbul, UAE, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, London, Paris, Tokyo, Cologne and Milan in a period of less than two years.
Mashaei, who is in Canada to take part in Iranian expatriates seminar, added that he has held various meetings with Iranians living in the country and discussed local and international issues with them.
