Tehran, March 16, IRNA - Head of Iran's Ski Federation Isa Saveh-Shemshaki said on Monday that Iran's women skiers have, for the first time, earned a slot in the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver, Canada.

"It's the first time that a female skier from Iran is to take part in the Olympic Games," Saveh-Shemshaki told IRNA adding that there are three candidates for the job.

One of the three present Iranian female candidates, Fatemeh Kiadarbandsari, Mitra Kalhor and Marjan Kalhor, would be found qualified to take part in the games after contesting in the ski tournaments which are to be held in December 2009, Saveh-Shemshaki said.

He added that 85 countries are to take part in the 2010 Winter Games in Canada.

Iran's team in the international event would be consisted of one female and three male skiers, said the official.
