The Honorable Barak H. Obama
The President of the United States of America
The White House Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear Mr. President:

On behalf of the Iranian American community, I sincerely thank you for your Nowruz message and the generous thoughts and sentiments you conveyed to Iranian Americans and Iranians all over the world on the occasion of the Persian New Year.

Observing the arrival of spring as the supreme occasion for renewal and rejuvenation, the ancient tradition of Nowruz celebrates not a particular nation, people or culture but our common humanity. Through the centuries, by teaching us to look beyond the everyday human condition and to reflect upon nature as it blossoms into beautiful new colors, Nowruz has invited us to search for new beginnings and to renew old friendships.

On this joyous occasion, we express our deep appreciation for your recognition of our Persian heritage as well as the contributions of Iranian Americans to the social and economic fabric of American society. We also reiterate our gratitude to the United States for providing us with the opportunity to be a part of this great nation's rich tapestry, and reaffirm our commitment to continuing to make ever increasing contributions to our adopted home.

Once again, thank you for your kind thoughts. We in turn wish you and your family a Happy Nowruz.

Respectfully Yours,

Babak Hoghooghi

Executive Director

Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA)
