German-Iranian "fairytale diplomacy" bewitches foreign ministry

Berlin, May 1, IRNA - The reception lobby of Germany's Foreign Ministry became the scene of a magical German-Iranian puppet show, the daily Der Tagesspiegel newspaper reported Thursday.

German and Iranian pupils, ages 11 through 14, performed a popular German fairytale story, using their own hand-made marionettes.

Students of Berlin's Koenigin-Luisen-Stiftung boarding school and their Iranian counterparts from Isfahan excited the audience at the foreign ministry.

The Iranian and German pupils met one another only two days before their performance at the foreign ministry.

The puppet show was part of the only ongoing German-Iranian school exchange program, involving the Koenigin-Luisen-Stiftung boarding school and various Iranian schools as well as educational institutes.

The German-Iranian group is also scheduled to stage the string puppet show in the city of Potsdam, located 20 kilometers from Berlin.
