TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran's Presidential hopeful Mohsen Rezaei said on Sunday the US is now in need of Iran and Iran should take measures from the position of strength.
Speaking at his first press conference after announcing his bid to run in the elections, Rezaei said "I advocate neither surrender nor adventure, I will never write a letter to a US president which remains unanswered; our letter will defiantly be answered."
The time of aggression and military attack is over; he said adding the new movement in the US dictates a new foreign policy to the country. "We can use the US needs favorable to our national interests if we pursue the position of strength," he added.
The Secretary of Iran's Expediency Council said weak presence in international meetings and hasty letter writings have been harmful so far adding he will seek a purposeful diplomacy.
The former Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) continued the US claims it seeks security in the region, Iran supports security, so it is a good point to make it clear which one is honest.
"We believe regional security will bring development, but no nation can be developed through bloody democracy seen in Iraq and bloody freedom as claimed by the US," he said.
"We are ready to make planning for regional security and stability," he added.
Asked about his cooperation with the US, Rezaei said "I never cooperated with the US, we have tested it before," but no politician of the country presented a proportionate plan on Iran-US relations.
The former US President Ronald Reagan sent his national security adviser Robert C. McFarlane to Iran when "we wanted to know whether the US sells warfare to us or not. The US refused to do so and related it with Israel and made us aware that the country ignores its interests on favor of Israel."
The fact that how fairly and appropriately the US President Barack Obama treats Iran is the test for him, he noted.
Also regarding holocaust, Rezaei said this is a historical issue and not in the domain of policy but academy so denying or accepting the issue is not related to Iran.
Elsewhere, concerning Palestine, he said the people of the territory whether Muslim, Jewish or of other religion should arrange their constitution on their own under supervision of the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) or the UN to form an independent Palestine with a clear constitution.
"I will do my best to help the process and create a new atmosphere," he added.
