Six Iranian-Americans Receive the 2009 Ellis Island Medal of Honor

PAAIA congratulates all the medal recipients and thanks them for their
contributions to the richness and diversity of American life.
On May
9, 2009 six Iranian Americans received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor
for
outstanding achievement in their personal and professional lives coupled with
preservation of their culture and heritage and noteworthy citizenship to the
United States.
This year's Iranian American honorees are:
Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh -
President, Long Island Plastic Surgical Group
Dr. Hamid Biglari
- Vice-Chairman, Citicorp
Ms. Forough B. Hosseini - Executive VP of Information Systems, ICI Homes
The Honorable Bijan R. Kian - Member, Board of Directors, U.S. Export-Import
Bank
Ms. Nooshin Malakzad - President/Owner, Nooshin, Inc.
Dr. Reza
Momeni - Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon, Summit Medical Group
Established in 1986 by National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations, the Ellis
Island Medals of Honor annually pays tribute to the ancestry groups that
comprise America's unique cultural mosaic. The Ellis Island Medal of Honor ranks
among the nation's most prestigious awards. The Medals are presented on Ellis
Island, in a dramatic ceremony, to American citizens of diverse origins for
their outstanding contributions to their communities, their nation and the
world.
The Ellis Island Medals of Honor are sanctioned by the U.S. Congress and
recipients' names are listed in the Congressional Record. Six Presidents of the
United States, Nobel Prize winners, athletes, leaders of industry, artists and
others are among the remarkable group of individuals to have previously received
the award.
PAAIA congratulates all the medal recipients and thanks them for their
contributions to the richness and diversity of American life.
