Iran Basketball Federation denies Utah Flash match

TEHRAN, May 16 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran Basketball Federation (IBF) denied agreements to have a friendly match versus Utah Flash, Mohammad-Reza Mashhun said on Saturday.

"Iran Basketball Federation has not invited any American club to Tehran. We cannot do this without permission from our government," head of Iran National Basketball Organization added.

NBA Commissioner David Stern stated on Friday that Iran Basketball Federation has invited Utah Flash of the National Basketball Association Development League to play a few games in Tehran.

Iran's coach Veselin Matic had already said they have negotiated with an American basketball club but did not reveal the name of the team.

Mashhun said, "Matic would like his team to play the world's best teams to get prepared, but it is impossible,"

Iran will take part in the 25th FIBA Asia Championship for Men, in Tianjin, China from October 21 to 29.
