Source: Press TV

As Iran's national soccer plays its first game under Afshin Qotbi, Fereydoun Zandi scores twice in a 5-0 victory over Indonesia to make an impressive return to the squad.

The victory in the friendly on Tuesday gave a morale boost to the Iranian squad ahead of a key World Cup qualifier against North Korea next month.

An own goal gave the home team the lead after 20 minutes, but about 20,000 fans in Karaj's Enqelab Stadium had to wait another 34 minutes for Zandi, who had scored his last international goal about a year ago, to score the second goal.

Iran made it 5-0 through Arash Borhani (67'), Mohammad-Reza Khalatbari (72') and Zandi (89').

The Iranian squad will leave Tehran on Wednesday to hold a training camp in China, before visiting North Korea for its sixth World Cup qualifier on June 6.

South Korea currently leads the group on 11 points, one point ahead of North Korea and Saudi Arabia. Iran sits fourth with six points, while the UAE is at the bottom of the group with only one point.
