During today's November 4th ceremonies in Tehran, Mehdi Karroubi, disputing
candidate of Iran's presidential elections was target of a direct attack by
government forces which injured two of his bodyguards.
Karroubi during his recent visit to the Press Fair where he was
also attacked
Tagheer website, news outlet for Mehdi Karroubi's National Trust Party, reported
today that government forces attacked Mr. Karroubi with tear gas. A bodyguard
was hit in the head with the tear bomb and was transferred to hospital.
Mehdi Karroubi collapsed from inhalation of the gas and was taken back to his
car. Reportedly despite this attack, he got out of his car a few streets away
and joined the protesters.

Taagheer website also reports that Karroubi's car was heavily damaged under
attack from a group of plainclothes forces.
Hosein Karroubi confirmed the attack on his father and said that in view of the
extreme violence which he has faced, the government is responsible for his life.
As previously announced by election protesters, Iranians took to the streets of
Tehran and several major Iranian cities today, November 4th, to protest Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad's disputed victory in the elections.
In Tehran, police dispersed the crowds with tear gas and aerial shots at 7th Tir
Square which was a starting point for some of the protesters including Mehdi
Karroubi.
Parleman News website also reports that Mir Hosein Mousavi has been impeded from
exiting the Fahangestan-e Honar building to join the protests.
Reportedly other parts of the city are also experiencing altercations between
protesters and security forces.

Protesters have been reported in several main streets. To escape tear gas
attacks, many have taken shelter in the alleys.
Eyewitness reports to Zamaneh also tell of Iran-Venezuela Bank building
suffering damage from aerial shots. The surrounding area is also reported to be
agitated.
Zamaneh has also been told that the Revolutionary Guards and Basij forces are in
the forefront of attacks against the protesters and they have been trying to
disperse them by shooting plastic bullets.
