Tehran is full
of surprises these days, and one of these has been the opening of a new gallery,
which must make many artists green with envy to be able to show their work
there.

Aun Gallery was
designed and built by Ms. Afarin Neyssari, an architect who is one of the
owners; although due to her busy schedule it took longer than intended. The
gallery was to be have been opened by another original group member, the late
Parviz Maleki. There is a memorial name plate for him on the gallery wall as one
enters the hall.

The hall itself
where the main show is displayed is a very large area in perfect white and with
excellent lighting.
In their own
words: Aun Gallery is Tehran's first privately-owned art space designed and
built to showcase contemporary art. The building offers 120 square meters of
open exhibition space, a five-meter high ceiling and a paneled roof to provide
maximum natural light. Aun Gallery allows for the optimal exhibition of all
types of art media (painting, photography, sculpture, video, installation)
while offering the visitor a new art viewing experience.
We were outside
Tehran when they had their first show, but I made sure that I went to their
second opening which showed
Pooya Aryanpour's works which was pretty good and looked really good in that
large space specially since the works were mostly very large.

An opening takes
place on the first Friday of each Persian month, and each show lasts a month.
It is worth the trouble of getting through Tehran’s notorious traffic just to
see the gallery, and then there are the art works as an added extra.
Do please go to
visit this wonderful new and interesting gallery and let me know what you
think.
