Iran-Iraq Annual Trade Seen At $4.2B

TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (Mehr News Agency) - The value of trade between Iran and Iraq is foreseen to reach $4.2 billion by March 2010, the secretary general of Iran-Iraq Joint Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines said here on Wednesday.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting quoted Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi-Shirazi as saying that the trade between the two neighboring countries stood at $2.5 billion in the past six months.

"Some 1.7 billion worth of goods were also transited via Iran to Iraq in the mentioned period," he added.

Iran and Iraq signed $200 million worth of contracts during the Iraqi delegation's visit to Tehran in October.

Iraq is one of the main markets for Iranian goods. Iran exported $2.26 billion worth of goods to Iraq during the previous Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2009). The two-way trade stood at $4 billion last year.
