Mehdi's Baqeri's short film "Father Gave Water" was awarded at the Up-and-Coming International Film Festival Hannover that was held from November 19 to 22.

The three-minute film won the International Young Film Makers Award and was described on the festival's website as a "story of feeling alone but not being alone, of one kid's compassion for another".

Two other projects from China and Switzerland received best short film awards in the 10th Up-and-Coming International Film Festival in Hannover, Germany.

107 films from 34 countries took part in the event this year.

The festival is held every two years by film-makers under 26.
