TEHRAN (ISNA)-Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki rejected some US media reports that he met with a number of the US Congress members during his short trip to Washington.
"If such a meeting will be necessary one day, it will be held, but it was not held during the trip," Mottaki said.
Mottaki who had stayed in New York for the 64th meeting of the UN General Assembly left for Washington on Wednesday and made a visit to Iran's Interests Section in Pakistani embassy in Washington. His trip lasted for a few hours.
This was the second visit of an Iranian Foreign Minister to Washington over last 30 years.
The former Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi visited Washington in 1990s.
Also concerning the comments by some US media that the quick issuance of permission for Mottaki's visit at Washington was a message of goodwill to Tehran, Mottaki said "in the world of policy, we try not to pay high cost and not to sell at very low cost."
