The mayor told the audience in the inaugural ceremony that city managers are
doing their best to promote quality of life in the capital city. He added that
due to economic recession, it is difficult to manage a big city like Tehran, but
promised the citizens that all projects will be carried out in a correct manner.

Tehran mayor further noted that the overpass was first supposed to cover
Enqelab Avenue and Roshandelan Street, but the final decision was that the
overpass should cross three important intersections along Enqelab Avenue and a
special lane for BRT buses has been built along the overpass.

Based on the studies, construction of the bridge was started over an area of
900 square meters with variable width between 16 m and 26 m and a minimum height
of about 5.5 meters. It has six lanes and the middle two lanes have been
dedicated to rapid buses with four northern and southern lanes for other
vehicles.

Although at first the overpass was supposed to be 8.3 m in width and 350 m in
length to be used solely by BRT buses, but it was later decided that the width
should increase to 16 m and the overpass be used both by BRT buses and other
vehicles.
