TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (Mehr News Agency) - 12,813 heavy vehicles including 8,813 trucks, 1,500 buses and 2,500 minibuses will be replaced with new ones in the frame of a scarppage scheme by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2010).
The Islamic Republic of Iran News Network reported on Saturday that the Iranian government''s representatives to the working group for the expansion of public transportation fleet and energy saving have obliged the Central Bank of Iran to provide about one billion dollars credit to the plan.
The Oil Ministry has also been undertaken to allocate some $230 million from its internal budget for paying as gratuitous aid and subsides for renewing the country's heavy vehicle fleet.
A delegation consisting of representatives from the Oil Ministry, the Roads and Transportation Ministry, the Ministry of Industries and Mines, and the headquarters for managing transportation and fuel consumption will determine how to use the internal resources of the oil ministry.
