TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (Mehr News Agency) – The Guardian Council Secretary, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, has said the proposal for establishment of a national election committee is "illegal and not implementable".

Mohsen Rezaii, a presidential contender in the June election, has put forward a proposal calling for the establishment of a national committee for election affairs without the interference of ruling factions.

"This word (the proposal) is very baseless, this is in violation of law," Jannati told reporters on Monday.

Rezaii on Saturday called on the Majlis to examine his proposal.

Rezaii, the secretary of the Expediency Council, said that he expects lawmakers to study the proposal thoroughly.

Earlier Guardian Council spokesman had rejected the offer.

Rezaii said some have expressed their ideas about the plan without studying the proposal scrupulously.

However, Rezaii added, "Everyone is free to express his or her ideas and I will welcome (their ideas) too."
