Iran beats Australia in Asian Women's Volleyball Championship

Hanoi, Vietnam, Sept. 7 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran toppled Australia in the 15th Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championship on Monday. The Iranian women''s team made incredible progress by entering the top eight of the event.

In a display somewhere near their best they wedged out Australia in 3-1 sets (25-21, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16).

Iran took on Australia to vie for the second place in Pool A, which would give them a chance to play in the last eight teams. Both teams had the similar record of one win against one loss.

Iran finished 12th at the previous meet in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand two years ago.

The championship, from September 5 to 13, drew participation of 16 countries and regions, which were divided into four groups.
