Association of Defense of Prisoner's Rights is an NGO founded by reformist journalist, Emaddedin Baghi in 2002. One of the chief outputs of the Association is the publication of an annual report on the situation of Iranian prisons

Earlier today the office of Mehdi Karoubi, the other disputing candidate of the June presidential elections, was also sealed and two of his top aides were arrested. His office along with the office of the opposition committee probing into charges of detainee abuse and other violations perpetrated by government forces in the recent events, were raided and documents regarding the said investigations were confiscated.

The committee recently posted a name-list of 72 people killed in the post-election events on Norooz website. Government officials dispute the authenticity of the list and condemned its publication.

Iranian officials are stepping up their crackdown on the opposition in a series of fronts. Last week they cancelled a series of public events connected with the holy month of Ramadan. Today Revolutionary Guards reported on getting organized to face possible student protests in the wake of the new academic year.
