MANILA, Sept. 29 (Mehr News Agency) -- Iran defeated world's 8th- ranked China on Tuesday in the 15th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championship.

The Persians played out a 3-2 (26-28, 25-20, 25-22, 22-25, 15-6) victory over powerhouse China at the San Andres Gym in Manila.

The two teams have played together 17 times, in which Iran has won three times.

Iran defeated Sri Lanka 3-1 in its opening day.

Iran is scheduled to play Vietnam and Hong Kong in Group C on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.

A total of 16 teams have participated in four pools in the championship.
