presents "Condemned to Freedom",
a very special panel discussion on the current exhibition Traces of Being:
Iran in the Passage of Memories.
The program will start at 3 pm on Saturday October 17, 2009, followed by a
reception with light refreshments.
The panel will discuss humanity's relentless quest for freedom and the realm of
art as the only space where true freedom is possible.
The panel includes the artists and curator of the exhibit as well as guest
speaker Ali Ashouri. A poet, writer and lecturer on arts and culture, Mr.
Ashouri has published several books of his poetry in Farsi and many essays and
articles in various Iranian publications. He has taught at California State
University, San Diego and has lectured in the U.S. and Europe.The panel will be
moderated by Sonia Mak.

Join us on Saturday, November 7th, for special film preview screening of "Pearls
on the Ocean Floor," a new documentary (in progress) by Robert Adanto, about the
lives and work of contemporary Iranian women artists around the world. Morono
Kiang Gallery will present the first segment of the film, followed by a question
& answer session with the director.
