Gallery Mamak is exhibiting Ahoo Hamedi's
work this month.

One of Iran's promising young talents is Ahoo Hamedi. She was born in 1981 in
Iran. Hamedi studied at the Azad University of Fine Arts, Tehran where she
received her BA. Ahoo Hamedi's paintings are matured works of art that bear
resemblance to sketches a painter would draw to start a major project. Her
style is characterized by a striking lightness that reflects skill with
watercolor, absence of background, lucid brushstrokes and clarity of the
finished work.

The completed and signed paintings she presents to the viewer are
as though the painter has painted them for herself. Each painting could be a
page of her diary; like the scattered thoughts we put on paper to somehow
explore our identity: notes made with the intention of self-discovery. The
search for one's self is an endeavor of not just this painter, but an entire
generation that, like Ahoo Hamedi, feels lost in a society where a broad gap
divides the existing reality and the publicized ideology.

Hamedi has had solo
and group exhibitions in such countries as Iran, UK, Canada, and Dubai. She is
also a member of the Association of Iranian Painters. Ahoo Hamedi is presently
living and working in Tehran.
