Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani has said that parliamentary committees will examine the emigration of veteran airline pilots. The MPs are paying close attention to the issue of the emigration of a large number of senior pilots to foreign countries, the Majlis News Agency quoted him as saying on Saturday.
Iranian civilian plane crashes have increased by five times since the 1980s, and since 2001, 15 major civilian planes have crashed. Seven of these planes were American Boeing jets and Lockheed C-130s, arguably the safest aircrafts available. Yet, they have frequently crashed due to "mechanical failures."
Larijani stated that the Majlis is
preparing a special plan to encourage pilots to stay in the country.
He added that efforts are being made to resolve the pilots' problems.
Special orders have been given to the Majlis Construction Committee to look into the problems the pilots are currently facing, he said.
