The Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi said the country is ready to exchange one ton of 3.5 percent enriched uranium with 100 kilograms of enriched uranium with 20 percent purity.
He added, "uranium swap needs to be carried out
in such a way that we receive sufficient, concrete and required guarantee."
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, he said, "the issue of fuel swap has been declared to the IAEA and it has accepted it that Iran sends one ton of sealed 3.5 perect enriched fuel and nobody unseals the shipment as long as Iran has not received 20 percent enriched fuel."
He also added the IAEA can be a guarantee for the exchange.
"It is so disappointing that we have lost our confidence to the West, 50 tons of our uranium have been in France for 31 years and the US should have provided fuel for Tehran's reactor for which it has been paid, whereas it has neither gave the money or the fuel."
"The lack of such trust caused that we feel need to receive a concrete, sufficient and required guarantee to make sure that we will get fuel through the swap."
