Iran: Ayatollah Dastgheyb Warns Against Further Attacks On Ghoba Mosque

Following the recent organized attacks by pro-government thugs and militia on the office and mosque of senior religious figure and Marja Ayatollah Dastgheyb, and the reports of some secret meetings between these thugs and security officials indicating that they are collaborating and planning for future attacks on Ghoba mosque where Ayatollah gives his sermons during the holy month of Ramadan, Ayatollah Dastgheyb warned them not to plan to carry any future attacks on the mosque.

In his remarks Ayatollah Dastgheyb stated: "I advise those individuals who assume by attacking the mosque again they are trying to correct things [based on their views] but truly are planning for iniquity, not to ever plan on attacking the mosque again in their secret meetings and recreate the previous disasters, as this would not be for their good and they had performed wrongly in the previous events."

A group of pro-government thugs gathered in front of the mosque where Ayatollah Dastgheyb, senior religious figure and member of the Assembly of Experts, gives his sermons and by chanting insulting slogans against this noble Marja, attacked Ayatollah's positions in support of the Green Movement as well as his recent remarks in which he sharply criticized the ruling powers because of their injustice and repression of the people.

Ayatollah Dastgheyb's office was vandalized

Additionally, according to reports from the city of Shiraz, a number of organized militia thugs who were hiding their face behind masks attacked the office of Grand Ayatollah Dastgheyb and vandalized the building. All these happened while the police and security forces did absolutely nothing to stop them and according to the unofficial reports there is high possibility that these organized thugs are planning to attack Ayatollah's mosque and office again.

Following last year's disputed presidential election Ayatollah Dastgheyb and other senior religious figures such as Grand Ayatollahs Saanei and the late Grand Ayatollah Montazeri who stood by the people and condemned government's repression of the people have been attacked many times and their homes and offices have been vandalized in order to put pressure on them and silence their justice seeking voice.
