Plane Skids off Runway in Tabriz, Northwestern Iran
(Fars News Agency)- Two passengers were lightly injured when a plane skidded off the runway
after landing at an airport in Iran's northwestern city of Tabriz.
The Fokker 100 airliner, which belonged to Iran Aseman Airlines, skidded off the
tarmac at Tabriz International Airport on Thursday evening.
The plane lost control just after landing and plunged into a nearby canal.
The front part of the plane was partially damaged and two passengers received
The jet was en route to Tabriz from the Iranian capital Tehran.
Rescuers helped disembark the passengers of the flight 773.
Tabriz experienced wet weather earlier in the evening and
there were sharp showers along with some lightning.
Tabriz International Airport which has been operating in the past 57 years
handles 16 sorties of flight every day including two flights to Tehran and
Mashhad and four overseas flights destined to Istanbul, Dubai, Damascus, and
Varna of Bulgaria.
