ARMAN Healing Project

This project is a joint creation of ARMAN (Asylee, Refugee Migrant Assistant Network) and Paintbrush Diplomacy along with the help of our dedicated group of university interns. ARMAN is a refugee organization working for Iranian refugee families promoting healing through mental health services and advocacy.

Connecting the world one paintbrush at a time. Promoting peace and understanding through the universal language of art. Paintbrush diplomacy encourages awareness of international issues and supports children's causes through a variety of programs including educational exchanges, community exhibits, and special events. For nearly three decades, Paintbrush Diplomacy has facilitated exchanges of art and personal stories between children across the globe. Children from Poland, Estonia, Russia, El Salvador, China, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe, Mexico, the United States and many other countries experience the diversity of cultures, seeing at the same time that we have more similarities than differences.

The ARMAN Healing Project facilitates healing from Trauma with the holistic process of art. We are working children from various backgrounds specifically with children in the Bay Area who have suffered from harsh environmental risks such as violence, war, abuse and fear. Through art therapy, we hope to connect with the children through a heuristic medium and aid in their healing. The art from these children can serve as a window to their suffering and bring awareness to the violence that resides close to home.

We all seek peace, freedom, and light in the darkness. We hope to encourage friendliness and foster a sense of community among children of the world.

Excited and eager Iranian refugee children in Turkey will also be sharing their art via skype with the group. The goal of this project is to connect Iranian children around the world using the healing language of art. Professional art therapists and university students will help facilitate the project.
