TEHRAN, Feb. 21 (Mehr News Agency) - The Expediency Council has put the examination of the general policies of the election law on its agenda upon an order issued by the Supreme Leader.

In a session on Saturday, the council members decided to start work on the motion and the examination of the relevant laws and to start drafting general policies, the ISNA news agency reported.

Mostafa Pourmohammadi, the current director of the State Inspectorate Organization and the former interior minister in Ahmadinejad's first administration, and Expediency Council Strategic Research Center Director Hassan Rohani elaborated on the pros and cons of the proposed plan.

Pourmohammadi said that about two years ago he made a proposal to revise the election law and Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani referred the case to the Supreme Leader, who gave the order to examine the proposal and draw up a new plan law.
