According to the report by Amir Kabir University's Newsletter, the professors in their letter refer to the attacks of the forces supporting Ayatollah Khamenei himself. They specifically mention the attacks on Tehran University on December 7 and 8 where the attackers were armed with cold weapons, pepper spray and tear gas.

The professors write: "It is still very difficult for us to accept that a group with several tools and weapons and with previous coordination can attack the university and for two subsequent days beat and hit students - the pure sons and daughters of this land -, destroy public properties, insult the university professors and disrespect the center of country's engineering."

The full letter (in Persian) which includes the name of the 88 professors has been published by Amirkabir News.
