Announcement by
National
Iranian American Council (NIAC)
NIAC has confirmed that the Norooz Resolution
will move forward to a Committee vote this Thursday. This is the last step
before the Norooz Resolution comes before Congress for final passage!

Take
Action Now!
In 2009, Congressman Mike Honda introduced the
Norooz Resolution,
H.Res. 267, a measure that celebrates Norooz and Iran's rich cultural
traditions while expressing appreciation to Iranian Americans for their
contributions to society and wishing Iranian Americans and the Iranian people a
prosperous new year.
Over the past several months, many of us have
worked together to tell Congress to pass the Norooz Resolution. Now, with
Norooz just around the corner, we are closer than ever to accomplishing this
goal.
But Congress won't bring the Norooz Resolution up
for a vote unless your Representative hears from you-we need just two more
Representatives to cosponsor this measure for it to receive a vote in Congress.
Will you reach out to your Representative to
tell them to sign on to the Norooz resolution before it's too late?
In the past, Congress has passed resolutions
commemorating important traditions like Diwali, Chinese New Year, and Greek
Independence Day, celebrating the cultures of many ethnic communities that make
up the US. But despite Iranian Americans' rich culture and our many
contributions to American society, Congress has never considered passing a
Norooz resolution-until now.
Now, Iranian Americans are better organized than
ever to make their voices heard by Congress; we must seize this moment to make
sure that the Norooz Resolution receives a vote and is passed.
Tell your
Representative to sign on to this important resolution today so that the
Norooz Resolution receives a vote and is passed by Congress in time for the New
Year!
(If your Representative is already a supporter
of the Norooz resolution, you can use the same link to send a thank you
letter)
