TEHRAN, Jan. 26 (Mehr News Agency) -- Secretary of Iranian academies Masud Kanzi has resigned after many years of service.
Following recent changes in the method of appointment of new directors of specific academies, Kanzi delivered his letter of resignation which was quickly accepted by the directors of the four academies for which he was secretary.
Iranian Academy of Persian Language and Literature is headed by Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel and Iran's Academy of Science is directed by Reza Davari Ardakani.
The Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) has a new director, Ali Mo'allem Damghani, and Alireza Marandi was recently appointed to the Academy of Medical Sciences.
The four directors have come to an agreement on appointing Mohammadreza Shams Ardakani as the new interim secretary.
The Iranian president is empowered to personally appoint the IAA director, based on a modification in article 8 of the IAA charter. Similar modifications have been made in the charters of other academies.
