Alaeddin Boroujerdi, head of Iranian parliament's Foreign Policy and National Security Council announced that boycotting sale of petrol to Iran is illegal and added that according to International laws, companies are responsible for the lives of air passengers and air security.
Alaeddin Boroujerdi claimed
sanctions by US against sale of petrol to Iran will be considered Sunday afternoon in the presence of Minister of transportation and aviation officials.
He maintained: "According to international laws such as YATA and regulations regarding air transport, companies have to provide the necessary fuel for airplanes."
The US Congress has approved sanctions on refined petroleum products including petrol, diesel gas, and jet fuel against Iran.
According to the sanctions, any company that receives over one million dollars from sale pf petroleum products to Iran or within a year makes five million dollars from the sale of these products to Iran will be put under US sanctions.
Allaeddin Boroujerdi told IRNA that Iran will have to sue companies that impose sanctions against Iran because they are responsible for the lives of air passengers and security of air travel.
Iran has limited oil refining capabilities and imports over a third of its petrol needs. Iran also imports fuel for all its airplanes and the recent sanctions could create grave difficulties for Iranian aviation.
